Why does Daenens charge additional cost allowances?

As a service cheque company, Daenens believes it is important to provide high-quality services for our customers and to create opportunities for our household helps. That is why we want to be able to continue investing in the supervision, training, income and well-being of our many thousands of cleaners.

Unfortunately, the current financing model of home help with service cheques does not offer enough room for this. As a company, we cannot simply stand by and watch this situation passively from the sideline. Our domestic helpers and our customers are entitled to more. That is why we feel compelled to charge additional cost allowances.

How much is the additional fee?

You pay a surcharge per hour of work that the housekeeper has effectively worked. The contribution fee price depends on the type of service cheque you pay with. As the regulations and the value of a service voucher differs per region, the additional fee per hour of service vouchers from the user's domicile address also varies depending on the region.

As from 1 May 2025, this fee per worked hour invoiced is as follows:
  • For services paid by users domiciled in the Flemish Region: €1.90 per hour
  • For services paid by users domiciled in the Brussels-Capital Region: €0.30 per hour
  • For services paid by users domiciled in the Walloon Region: €1.00 per hour

Why does the client contribution differ in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels?

With the client contribution, we ensure that our household helpers can carry out their work with the necessary recognition and support. That way, we can continue offering our clients the warm and reliable service they are used to.

The client contribution differs by region because each region determines how much subsidy it provides to the service voucher system. In some regions, the government assumes a larger share of the costs, while in others the client pays more per service voucher. That leads to differences between Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.

Where can I lodge a complaint about my invoice?

If you have a complaint about your invoice, please contact your cleaning agency’s consultant. They are best equipped to help you find a satisfactory solution. You can reach out to them either by email or by submitting a message through the web form.

Charging additional cost allowances is legal in Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels. Many service voucher companies have been doing this for some time, including Daenens. The charging and terms of additional cost allowances are described in the contract agreement that is drawn up at the start of our collaboration. You can always obtain a copy of the contract agreement from your consultant at the cleaning agency’s office.

Do you charge the fee if my household help is absent or on leave?

If your housekeeper is absent or on leave, you will be notified in advance and no fee for services will be billed.

If your home help does not show up unexpectedly, please contact your consultant at the cleaning agency immediately and a new date will be arranged. The cleaning service is automatically and duly adjusted in your invoice. Should the cleaning service somehow be invoiced anyway, this will be settled automatically in the next invoice.

What if my household help works on another date than the scheduled one?

This change will be adjusted in our planning schedule and correctly charged in your invoice. You do not need to take any further action yourself as this happens automatically.

What if my household help worked longer than planned?

The extra hours that your domestic help has worked are automatically included in your next invoice.

Can I receive a paper invoice rather than by e-mail?

Yes, you can, but if you opt for digital invoicing via email, you are entitled to a 2% discount on each invoice. We do this for ecological reasons, as we want to avoid paper invoices as much as possible. We therefore recommend that you provide an e-mail address.

What if my contract agreement is in the wrong language?

The Daenens contract agreement is standard available in Dutch, French, English and German. Please contact your cleaning office consultant if you wish to receive it in another language.

Can my invoice be sent to another e-mail address?

Yes, of course. Please provide the correct e-mail address to your cleaning office consultant.

Can my invoice be resent?

Yes, of course. Please ask your cleaning office consultant.

What if I have paid an invoice twice?

The overpaid amount will be refunded automatically. You don't have to do anything yourself.

What if I disagree with the additional billing fee?

Our service is unequivocally tied to the legal additional fee as described in our contract agreement. We cannot provide services without this previously agreed upon contract agreement.

Can I get an invoice in my company's name?

This is not legally possible. Service vouchers can only be used by private individuals.

What if I want to end my contract agreement?

You can do so as provided under the terms and conditions of the contract agreement. Please notify your intention with your cleaning agency in writing or via e-mail. They will take the steps that are required to end the cooperation agreement.

Do you have another question that is not included in the above list? Please let your cleaning agency know so we can help you quickly. Because at Daenens, we take good care of you.

We charge for effective ironing time instead of working with an item list

Daenens uses a time registration system. Whereas previously, a fixed price per ironed garment was charged, now you pay on the basis of a service voucher + €2 cheque for each hour worked. This is the same in Flanders and Wallonia (not for Brussels).

Separate invoices if you domestic help at home and use the services of an ironing shop

As two different work addresses will be registered, you will receive two separate invoices.

Separate invoices if you work with two different ironing shops

As these ironing services have been performed at two different addresses, you will receive two separate invoices.
